Learning to do eye makeup as someone with a monolid was very tough growing up. I always hated my eyes because I could never achieve the eye look that I wanted when learning to use makeup. I struggled even at the cosmetic counters when the "pros" did my makeup. Honestly, I looked like a clown every time I would let someone try and do my eye makeup.
The eye shadow color went all the way up to my eyebrows, not in a transitional way either... Not only was color application hard, my small eyes cause me to get poked in the eye many times when artists would try and put mascara on me. It was a long messy battle and I got really tired of it, so that is when the idea popped into my head to go on YouTube.
I figured there must be someone else out there like me, I was not alone with having monolids. Although I eventually found others like me, there were VERY few videos that showing me step by step how to achieve a gorgeous look. It took me many years to get comfortable wearing eye shadow because I felt that it looked strange on me. Until about two years ago the only time I ever really wore eye shadow was for special occasions. After many years of struggling and lots of practice I have finally been able to master the eye makeup that I can wear everyday.
This struggle of mine has inspired me to create a tutorial that is step by step. I really hope that this video can help someone achieve the look they want, teach them how to practice, and learn to apply eye makeup on the monolid.
